Calendar Cover

CHAR: Ruya, Ki, Toshino, Aritaka, Keiji, Anko COMMENTS: The theme for this year's calendar is "Magicians". However, I don't know why the cover has nothing to do with magic. This image is actually made up of two images drawn separately. I wanted something that represents Light and Darkness and this image came out. I guess it is not done very well since it is inked with ball pointed pen again (which leaked all over) and I was not in the right mood for colouring...

January

CHAR: Haruyama Aritaka COMMENTS: The only thing I want to say about Aritaka is... 'that's a strange hat' XD I am not good at designing clothes, so I randomly gave him something to wear, trying to stick to the magician theme as much as possible. I guess the January page did not turn out very well, but it looks okay =)

February

CHAR: Hiwatari Ki COMMENTS: This is the first image done for the calendar. At first I wanted to try colouring anime style so I drew this image, but then I thought wouldn't it be nice to make this into a calendar page? (since at that time I still have not thought of a theme for the 2009 calendar...). Well then, it turned out like this. I also did the colouring in anime style =D

CHAR: Kawai Anko COMMENTS: Anko-chan looks like she is preparing for Christmas more than for anything in March... well, the idea for this outfit came from Lilina from Fire Emblem - Fuin no Tsurugi (game), however it did not turn out as good as I had expected ;_;

CHAR: Saki Ruya COMMENTS: Second page to be done for the calendar. I wanted to make Ruya into the White Goddess of Magic (yes, I know she is not good at magic, but whatever...). I quite like the clothes design, although it is a bit plain. I always think plain white clothes suit Ruya-chan ^_^

CHAR: Iwase Keiji COMMENTS: Kind of like the Sun God... since everything about this image is themed around the sun. It is kind of difficult to design for Light students... since it is hard to design for a staff... it is always either a sphere or in the shape of a sun... and most of the clothes should be white >.<

CHAR: Mori Kazuhito COMMENTS: Don't know why I did a side shot for Kazuhito. I was almost at the downmost mood when I drew this, and after I finished this page, I rested for a few months before I could continue drawing the rest of the pages... I was so afraid that I have to drop the calendar project because of lack of motivation to continue...

CHAR: Nakashima Yuu COMMENTS: Yuu is actually a new character who will be appearing almost at the end of the story, but he is here because he is one of the main characters. A short intro will be that he is a Darkness student, year 1... that's it =P He is kind of cute, isn't he?

CHAR: Higurashi Seishirou COMMENTS: I actually wanted to draw Seishirou opening his eyes, but I would like to make a special short manga on why he never opens his eyes, so I think it would be good if I continue to draw him closing his eyes for now. Headmaster is always cheerful and happy! Why? Because being the headmaster means you have power and no worries XD

CHAR: Asuma Hiroto COMMENTS: I was struggling with myself whether to put Hiroto or Rin on this page, but then in the end Hiroto won XD I guess because Rin did not have much screen time in the manga and many may regard her as not an important character. Rin had also appeared in the DREAM 2008 calendar and I guess it is fine. The other reason is that I need to give Hiroto-sensei more screen time after the first few chapters =P

October

CHAR: Eiji Toshino COMMENTS: Eiji-kun is another Sun God themed page... I am trying to make him look more like a priest than a god (the theme is magician anyways...) Another white and yellowish light page =D The only thing I don't like about this page is that I think Toshi-kun's head is a bit big...

CHAR: Amane Jun COMMENTS: Many of you may not have read till his appearance. Jun is the past Light president, personality is similar to Toshi-kun, but ability is far stronger. I also like the designs on his shirt. The yellowish and reddish colours give him a royality feel... but of course Jun is not a rich kid =D

CHAR: Hiwatari Ken COMMENTS: And finally I could not forget Ki's dad because he is also one of my favourite characters XD He is the strongest Darkness user at present, so I gave him a mysterious look and a super fancy staff =P I tried to match his clothes to that of Ki's, but of course I need it to be more detailed =D
